WirelessNetView (not to be confused with WirelessKeyView) is a very small, free and portable wireless network scanner. The application is very simple and doesn’t have graphing abilities like Netstumbler, but other than that it gives you all the wireless information you need. The main benefit that WirelessNetView has over most other wireless network scanners is that its portable (as mentioned before) and works on XP and Vista.

Group Policy can be applied to users and computers at a site, domain, or OU. GPOs from parent containers are inherited by default. When multiple GPOs apply to these users and computers, the settings in the GPOs are aggregated. For most policy settings, the final value of a given policy setting is set only by the highest precedent GPO that contains that setting. (However, the final value for a few settings will actually be the combination of values across GPOs.) Precedence of GPOs determined by the order of processing for the GPOs. GPOs processed last have highest precedence. GPOs follow the SDOU rule for processing; site first, then domain and followed by OU including nested OUs. A nested OU is one that has another OU as its parent. In the case of nested OUs, GPOs associated with parent OUs are processed prior to GPOs associated with child OUs. In this processing order, sites are applied first but have the least precedence. OUs are processed last and have the highest precedence.

Microsoft is willing to pay $250,000 to know who's behind the Conficker computer virus that infected more than 15 million machines, reports Telegraph.co.uk.
The worm also is known as Downadup and Kido and is giving spammers and cybercriminals a "back door" into people's machines, making Windows users susceptible to identity theft. Microsoft sees the worm as a criminal attack and is, therefore, offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of the virus authors.
According to NetworkWorld, Microsoft also has announced that it is forming a partnership with Internet registries and DNS providers like ICANN and ORG, as well as security vendors Symantec and Arbor Networks, to put a stop the Conficker worm once and for all.
CBC.ca notes that this isn't the first time Microsoft has offered a bounty on the makers of malicious code. Back in 2004, it offered a $250,000 reward for whoever was responsible for the Sasser worm. It actually paid out the reward in July 2005.

The Broadband installer is incompatible with an existing installation of AOL dial-up software. AOL have a non-standard proprietary dial-up protocol: to enable traditional TCP/IP applications to work over an AOL connection, the AOL software hides all the normal Windows network interfaces, and installs a virtual network interface called WAN Network Driver, with a MAC address similar to 00-03-8A-xx-xx-xx. This situation confuses the Broadband Installer.
So, before attempting to run the Broadband Installer, always completely uninstall AOL software from the PC, and ensure that the natural network interfaces are available.
The most important thing you can do as a computer owner is to consistently and reliably back up the data stored on your hard drive. Hardware used to be the most valuable part of a computer but those bits and bytes are now the real investment.
You've spent huge amounts of money on software and digital music and video, and countless hours authoring documents and organizing your digital files. If you don't regularly backup this information, a serious computer problem could leave you with nothing but a huge feeling of regret.
Use these resources to keep your data safe!
If you've backed up a registry key in Windows Vista, or even the entire registry, you'll be happy to know that restoring it is very easy.
Maybe you're seeing problems after a registry key change or the problem you were trying to fix wasn't resolved by your recent Windows Vista Registry edit.
Either way, you were proactive and exported a registration file just in case something happened.
Follow these steps to restore previously exported subkeys to the Windows Vista Registry.
Note: The steps below require working with the Windows Registry. Making changes other than the ones described below could cause system problems.
Locate the Registration File you exported before making your changes to the Windows Registry.
Having trouble locating the file? Assuming you actually did make an export from the registry, look for a file ending in the REG file extension. Check on your Desktop, in your Documents folder, or in your C:\ drive.
Double-click on the REG file to open it.
You'll next be prompted with a message in a Registry Editor window:
Adding information can unintentionally change or delete values and cause components to stop working correctly. If you do not trust the source of this information in [REG file location], do not add it to the registry. Are you sure you want to continue?
Click the Yes button.
Important: This isn't a message to take lightly. If you're importing a REG file that you did not export or one you downloaded from an unknown source, be aware that you could cause damage to Windows Vista.
Assuming the restoration of the registry keys was successful, you should receive the following message in a Registry Editor window:
The keys and values contained in [REG file location] have been successfully added to the registry.
Click the OK button in this window.
The registry keys contained in the REG file have now been added to the Windows Vista Registry. If you know where the registry keys were located, you can open Registry Editor and verify that the changes were made successfully.
Restart your computer. Depending on the changes that were made by restoring the registry keys, you may need to restart to see the changes take effect in Windows Vista or in your programs.

There are several kinds of audio formats to choose from
when saving Music files. While some formats sound better than others, the higher quality formats typically take up more space on your hard disk. If you have a lot of music files, you will benefit from using a compressed audio format that shrinks the size of the files, while maintaining the fidelity of the audio.
